Parents we want you to be equipped through teaching, modeling, and resourcing to shepherd your children’s hearts in everyday life—time, moments, and milestones. We're starting a monthly series to highlight a children's book we recommend. This month a member, Laurel West, is highlighting God's Very Good Idea by Trillia Newbell.
"God made it. People ruined it. He rescued it. He will finish it." This is the powerful closing line of Trillia Newbell's children's book, God's Very Good Idea. This colorful book opens a conversation with children about differences in appearance, skin color, abilities, and interests. As the book progresses, the author celebrates the variety of people God has made in His image, mourns the impact of sin and brokenness, and then closes with the good news of our Rescuer, Jesus.
This book has been a wonderful tool for our family. My husband and I have children biologically and through adoption. Physical differences are part of our every day life. Having a resource that openly discusses our differences, celebrates them (rather than using them as dividing points), and points to our ultimate hope and identity in Jesus has been invaluable!
